Arne Flones — An Apology to ZDNet

In my recent article “ZDNet Labs admits mistakes in recent
security test” (taken down at ZDNet’s request — lt ed.),
I made an error of confusing ZDNet with ZD. ZDNet is understandably
upset about this.

I want to make sure that everybody understands that ZDNet is a
separate corporation which provides the network services and
support to, among others, Ziff-Davis publications.

I retract everything I’ve said in conjunction to the recent
security test with respect to ZDNet. There is no ZDNet Labs. ZDNet
has no responsibility for policies and tests at either PCWeek Labs
or ZD Labs. My confusion came from mistaking service provider for
content provider. I apologize to ZDNet for this mistake and I
assure ZDNet that I meant no deliberate harm to them.

Sincerely yours,

Arne W. Flones
