“The number of Linux games is still small, but Scott Draeker
plans to change that. Draeker, a software licensing attorney, is
president of Loki Entertainment Software, a Tustin, Calif., company
that produced the Linux versions of Myth II and Railroad Tycoon II
and plans to keep rolling out Linux versions of major games.”
“It’s far easier to port a game than to build one from scratch.
Top-quality games can cost millions of dollars to produce and
require dozens of workers. By licensing existing games, Loki can
get into the business on the cheap.”
“Loki is working on Linux versions of eight more games and is
constantly looking for new products to port to Linux. Draeker said
most game software makers are quite interested in working with his
company – with one major exception: Microsoft.”
