“Actuate Adds 100 Percent Pure Java Reporting Capabilities
and Support for the Linux Platform.”

“Actuate Corporation, the leader in e.Reporting for e.Business,
today announced it has acquired EnterpriseSoft, a developer of Java
software products, for an undisclosed amount of cash and
stock.”

“The acquisition of EnterpriseSoft is another step in Actuate’s
strategy to support customers and resellers developing applications
based around the popular Java and Linux platforms.”

“‘The message to our customers is that whatever kind of
technology infrastructure they use, Actuate can support it,’ said
Nico Nierenberg, chairman and CEO, Actuate. ‘Today’s acquisition of
EnterpriseSoft and our recent license of technology from Unify
Corporation are indicative of Actuate’s strategy for supporting
organizations standardizing on Java.’

“Actuate will sell and support the entire line of EnterpriseSoft
products, all of which are based on 100 percent pure Java and
support fully the Linux platform. EnterpriseSoft has more than 150
customers — a significant number of which are from the financial
services space — using its report writing solution including Bank
of America, Bear Stearns, IBM and Ford Motor Company.
EnterpriseSoft founder Sandeep Jain will report to Actuate senior
vice president of engineering, Hamid Bahadori.”
