BW: Agfa Monotype Offers Core Font and Color Imaging Technology to Linux Developers

“Agfa Monotype Corporation announced today the availability of
its core font technology, Universal Font Scaling Technology (UFST),
and its color imaging technology, CMM (Color Management Module),
for the Linux operating system. Technology contributions like
these, are representative of Agfa Monotype’s ongoing support for
emerging markets.”

“With Agfa Monotype’s CMM, the same high-end color
transformations and ICC workflow solutions Agfa offers to the
graphic arts market can now be used in the Linux environment. Agfa
Monotype’s CMM is available as a shared library that supports
similar functionality and the same API calls as the Microsoft Image
Color Management (ICM) and Apple ColorSync products. This
compatibility simplifies the task of porting Microsoft Windows PC
and Macintosh applications to Linux. It also elevates Linux as an
alternative platform for performing color management.”

Agfa Monotype’s Universal Font Scaling Technology (UFST)
offers a robust font scaling and rasterization solutions for
developers, allowing them to rasterize both TrueType and PostScript
Type 1 fonts either for the Linux screen, or as part of an overall
document printing solution.
Today, Agfa Monotype’s fonts and
font technology ship in 90% of all laser printers sold
worldwide.”
