“Be Computing, Inc., computer hardware manufacturer of systems
based on the Be Operating System(R) and Linux, today announced that
the company changed its name to Geek Teknologies, Inc. The name
change is designed to prevent possible confusion in the market
between two companies with similar names: Be Computing and Be,
Incorporated.
Be, Inc. is the developer of BeOS(R), an
alternative operating system that provides a high-performance and
robust platform for all applications, excelling in the areas of
audio and video manipulation. As a system manufacturer, Geek
Teknologies preloads many of its hardware systems with BeOS;
however the two companies are entirely separate entities.”

“We have a wonderful and close relationship with Be, Inc. We
license BeOS from Be, Inc. and ship it on many of our high-end
desktop systems; however, we are two separate companies in two
separate market segments. Be, Inc. is in the software business,
whereas we are in the hardware business,” stated Eric Schlissel,
CEO of Geek, Teknologies. “Our name change is intended simply to
prevent nomenclature confusion between the two companies.”
