“Computone…has increased its support for Linux users with new
software device drivers for its IntelliPort II family of high-speed
serial communications products incorporated into the Linux kernel
source code base.”

“The new software driver support is being introduced this week
at COMDEX, the premier event in the IT industry. Also at COMDEX,
Computone will introduce the PowerRack RAS 2000(R), the flagship of
its new family of intelligent remote access servers, and the Gold
Card, a powerful PCI serial I/O controller.”

The IntelliPort II serial device drivers are now contained
in the Linux source code database beginning with versions 2.2.12
and 2.3.15 of the kernel source distributions.
The 2.2.x
series is the current production release series of Linux kernels.
The 2.3.x series of kernels are currently under development. The
development series will eventually transition to the next
production release, which will be version 2.4.x kernels.”
