BW: First Linux Based HSM Announced by UniTree Software, Inc.

“UniTree Software, Inc. announces the release of its industry
leading Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) product on the Linux
operating system.”

“The product will be available at the start of the 1999 Linux
World Expo August 10th through the 12th in San Jose, CA. UniTree
Software, Inc. becomes the first company in the industry with a
commercially available HSM to announce support for the open source
Linux operating system.”

“The UniTree Central File Manager (UCFM) product transparently
moves data from disk file systems to removable media such as tape
or optical for automated disk management and more cost effective
storage. Files migrated to removable media appear to be on disk and
are transparently staged from removable media back to the disk
based file system upon users request.”
