BW: GraphOn Corp. Acquires Technology Patent for Remoting Windows Applications to UNIX and Linux

“GraphOn…specializing in thin, server-based software that
instantly web-enables applications today announced it has acquired
a U.S. patent for the remote display of Microsoft Windows
applications on UNIX(R) and Linux(R) desktops with X
Windows(R).”

As a result, GraphOn has patent protection and licensing
rights for the deployment of all Windows applications remoted, or
displayed, over a network or any other type of connection to any X
Window system.
The patent includes GraphOn’s WinBridge(TM)
(formerly jBridge) technology that enables multi-platform access of
32-bit Windows applications over the Internet. The technology
covered by the patent was originally developed by a team of
engineers formerly with Exodus Technology and hired by GraphOn in
May of 1998.”

“Linux and UNIX applications cannot run on Windows. GraphOn’s
patented technology overcomes this limitation by allowing UNIX and
Linux-based computers and display devices to view and run
Windows-based applications remotely and unchanged.”
