“MSC.Software Corporation (MSC)(NYSE:MNS) and NEC Corporation
(NEC)(Nasdaq:NIPNY), Japan, have agreed to form a shared
resource alliance to support MSC’s manufacturing industry
applications on the LINUX operating system using NEC’s IA-64 based
server family.”

“”The LINUX operating system provides an emerging, multibillion
dollar market opportunity for extreme performance computing to
address the needs of the scientific markets,” said Frank Perna,
Jr., chairman and CEO of MSC.Software. “We are fortunate to have
such an outstanding partner in NEC. Through our technology
leadership in this area, our customers will be the first to realize
the price-performance benefits of Intel hardware coupled with
LINUX.””

“”This alliance will allow companies to take full advantage of
the future Intel(R) IA-64 computing architecture and Intel(R)
Itanium(TM) based 64-bit servers soon to be available from NEC,”
said Paresh Pattani, Vice President, Advanced Technical Computing
Center (ATCC), NEC Systems, Incorporated. “NEC is fortunate to
collaborate with our long term partner, MSC.Software, to offer
MSC.Marc and MSC.Nastran family of products running on NEC’s LINUX
based systems.””
