BW: Netier First to Use Newest DiskOnChip Form Factor

“In a move to lower costs, speed order delivery and provide more
flexible network appliances, computing pioneer Netier Technologies,
Inc. is adopting M-Systems, Inc.’s (Nasdaq:FLSH) latest-generation
flash disk technology.”

“Netier, a Dallas-based designer of network management software,
embedded applications and solid-state information appliances, today
began shipping NetXpress information appliances featuring
M-Systems’ new DiskOnChip DIMM2000, the first compact, solid-state
flash disk offered on a standard 144-pin dual in-line memory module
(DIMM).”

…Unlike traditional thin clients, Netier’s NetXpress
access devices offer the robust local processing performance needed
to support both 16- and 32-bit operating systems like Microsoft
Windows NT Embedded, Linux, and Netier’s NetWin (Windows 3.x).

With these powerful embedded operating systems, NetXpress
appliances support embedded Web browsers and media players,
Internet telephony, Citrix ICA Client and Microsoft RDP Client,
customer-specific applications and all operating system-compatible
peripheral drivers. NetXpress’ powerful embedded operating systems
and high-performance hardware support peripherals such as smart
card and magnetic strip readers, touch screen technology,
biometrics, and more.”
