“VisualWorks for Linux is a comprehensive development tool suite
for creating powerful and easily maintained applications that will
run unchanged on Linux, Windows, Macintosh and most Unix platforms.
All Smalltalk source code for the VisualWorks for Linux development
tools is included with the product. With VisualWorks for Linux,
developers can work on this stable, low cost operating system and
immediately deploy to any platform existing in the heterogeneous
enterprise environment.”

“Linux has experienced phenomenal growth but development
productivity for the platform has been hampered by a lack of proven
tools,” said James Smith, senior vice president of worldwide sales
and marketing at ObjectShare. “VisualWorks is one of the first
enterprise development environments for Linux which provides the
flexibility and productivity the Linux community demands and the
results corporations need to be successful in creating robust
internet applications. We feel this presents a great opportunity
for us to capture a key position in the fastest growing operating
system market.”
