“Developed by OMNIS Software and sponsored by the International
Data Group (IDG), the Linux OS-based kiosks will supply visitors to
LinuxWorld Expo this year with information about the exhibitors and
their products, directions to specific booths and facilities, and
allow attendees to vote for their favorite product as well as order
product literature online.”

“The future for the Linux OS is very exciting, however, there is
a fear that some businesses will be deterred from using it because
of the lack of business applications, particularly at the
enterprise level. The development of the Information Kiosk on the
Linux OS, in such a short time period, is a real demonstration of
what can be achieved by using the tools of OMNIS Software.”

“The Kiosk solution, running on Red Hat Linux, was developed
using OMNIS Studio in just four weeks. This is possible because
OMNIS is a powerful 4GL Rapid Application Development environment
designed to produce flexible, scalable business solutions in a very
short time frame.”
