“The Open Multimedia Protocol Alliance (OMPA) and the
International Softswitch Consortium (ISC) have merged to combine
their efforts in promoting industry support for open standards and
protocols that will provide the foundation for most voice over IP
products and services…”

“Both organizations had publicly announced similar goals and
objectives for promoting the open standards to further enable
speedy adoption of packet telephony networks.”

“OMPA’s merger with the International Softswitch Consortium
brings the voice of open source development into alliance with the
existing corporate membership to truly reflect the entire telephony
and Internet communications populace. Additionally, Vovida Networks
has also committed to sponsoring a corporate seat for the Linux
community at large in order to foster representation from the
estimated 10 million Linux developers around the world.”
