BW: SilverStream Software Announces Linux Version of SilverStream Application Server

“SilverStream Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: SSSW), The eBusiness
Platform Company, today introduced the beta Linux version of its
award-winning application server. SilverStream’s new
application server for Linux will be initially supported on RedHat
(NASDAQ: RHAT) Linux, version 6.1, running with the latest Java(TM)
2-ready Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
The SilverStream
Application Server for Linux will allow developers to deploy
Java-based applications on Linux servers, as well as make it
simpler to port existing Java applications from other platforms to
Linux.”

“”SilverStream is pleased to offer the Linux community the
ability to run Java applications on one of the industry’s fastest
and most advanced application servers,” said Dave Litwack,
president and CEO SilverStream Software.”

“The beta version of SilverStream Application Server for Linux
is expected to be available in middle of the second quarter 2000.
For application deployment, the shipping version of SilverStream
Application Server for Linux, Enterprise Edition, is expected to be
available in the third quarter of 2000 and will be priced at
$15,000/CPU. For application development, a version of SilverStream
Application Server for Linux, Developer Edition, is expected to be
available later this year.”
