“Ah, the halcyon days of computers. A time when games came on
tape and you had enough time to build a new house while waiting for
them to load.”

“With the power of computers these days, it’s possible to relive
those heady early days of computing by using emulators, though the
loading delays are now optional. What an emulator does is imitate,
through software, the system components of the original machine.
There are a few Linux emulator projects dedicated to the C64, but
only one of them can be classed as good.”

That emulator is VICE. Not only does it emulate the C64, it
emulates other Commodore machines such as the C128, the Vic20 and,
the first computer I ever used, the Commodore Pet.
While those
are still legends of computing, the C64 is where most the interests
of most people lie.”
