“Shares of Canadian software developer Corel Corp. rode Linux
mania to a record high on Wednesday as interest in the open-source
Linux technology continued to surge.”

“The previous record high, C$40.95, was hit November 29, when
rumors swirled that Corel was a takeover target for Linux firm Red
Hat Inc. , of Durham, N.C.”

“The massive swell comes as Linux firm Andover.Net Inc.
of Massachusetts priced its IPO shares at $18 on
Wednesday, at the high end of an upwardly-revised range.
The company has a network of Web sites with content and commerce
aimed at the Linux and open-source community. On Tuesday,
California-based VA Linux Systems Inc. , which is selling
Linux software and systems, pushed up the price of its IPO
shares
to $21-$23 per share from $11-$13.”
