“The 40 or so software developers, engineers and computer users
at Coffee Net had just returned from Microsoft’s Silicon Valley
headquarters in Foster City. They had convened there for “Windows
Refund Day,” an international effort to obtain refunds for the
Microsoft operating system software that came pre-installed on
their new PCs.

“Although none of the 100 demonstrators walked away with a
refund check, they did succeed on a different level: their
well-mannered parade and polite rally commanded international
PR.”
