CNET News.com: Microsoft investigated for Corel investment

“Microsoft said it’s being investigated by federal antitrust
enforcers for its $135 million investment in rival Corel, raising
new antitrust questions for the world’s largest software
maker.”

“Microsoft received a civil subpoena from the Justice Department
regarding the investment, said Microsoft spokesman Jim Cullinan.
The subpoena, served three weeks ago, ordered the company to turn
over all internal documents related to the Corel agreement, The
Wall Street Journal reported earlier.”

“We are cooperating with the government to provide them with the
information they need,” Cullinan said. “This is a narrow
request.”
