ComputerWorld: HP, Oracle team on e-commerce software

“Hewlett-Packard Co. and Oracle Corp. yesterday announced an
agreement to jointly develop and market an integrated platform for
electronic-commerce applications.

HP will integrate its E-speak Internet developer tools with the
Oracle8i database and other Oracle Internet platform software in
what the companies said will be a comprehensive set of e-commerce
applications.”

“E-speak software will be released to the open-source
community by the end of the year
, [HP enterprise computing
division president/CEO Ann] Livermore said. The technology helps
developers create applications in areas such as application
hosting, Web-based procurement, ERP (enterprise resource planning)
and consumer services like finding travel information and making
reservations. Oracle’s Internet platform of products includes the
8i database, JServer and Internet directory and security services.
