What drew you to OpenOffice.org, the software first, then
the community? What about your disposition to technology,
occupation or education put it in your field of view?

“The short answer is geekiness. I like playing with software,
and when I learned to use word processors there were lots to play
with. None ever really satisfied me, though I did like Ami Pro a
lot, since it seemed to me to have the least cluttered and most
informative interface.

“Word 97 had trouble printing out the 70,000 word typescript of
my Darwin Wars, and I was also worried about locking copy into a
proprietary format. So I thought I’d try OOo…”
