CRN: Corel Releases Upgrade To Linux

“As part of a two-pronged approach into the Linux arena, Corel
Corp. last week released an upgrade to its Linux operating system
to beta testers and continued discussions with hardware OEMs about
bundling Corel’s version of the open-source operating system on
their machines…”

“We are pleased with the acceptance of our recent releases of
CorelDraw and WordPerfect,” Cowpland said. “As well, we are very
positive about the future of Linux and the delivery of our new
operating system, Corel Linux, at the end of this year…”

But Cowpland said Corel does not want to exaggerate the
potential of Linux to compete with Windows. “We don’t see Linux
replacing Windows,” he said.
