“As a tool to gain unprecedented access to information, the
Internet often has more brawn than brain. That’s why Westboro,
Mass.-based Ardent Software’s smart data mining tools have made the
company a hot commodity. So hot, indeed, that Informix Software
Inc. acquired Ardent on March 1 to round out its e-business
portfolio. That acquisition promises to pump up Ardent’s channel
roster and program offerings.”

“Being part of Informix lifts Ardent and its integrator partners
up the recognition ladder. ‘Like all companies, we face the
challenge of standing out, and getting our message heard by the
right customers at the right time,’ says Wipperfeld. ‘We have to
link our message to the solution message, otherwise we get lost in
the shuffle.’ “

“Along with the support of a new parent company, Ardent brings a
refreshed product line to its integrators. Ardent’s new
DataStage versions were announced on Feb. 23, offering more
e-business data integration tools, adding greater support for XML,
Web warehouse, and message-based middleware, as well as Linux
support.”
