“Some Linux proponents are making the case for their favorite OS
at Macworld Expo ’99 – but not as a replacement for the MacOS.”

“But if you want to link together a bunch of Macs, Linux could
provide a good alternative to Windows NT, said Jason Haas,
marketing director of LinuxPPC. This start-up developer is showing
off its version of the Linux OS for PowerPC at the show. Even older
PowerPC models, such as Mac 6100 and 7200 models, can be turned
into moderately powerful office or Web servers running the
lighting-fast OS, Haas said.”
