“Blocked by a rule change, Sun Microsystems’ Java Software
division will take another tack in trying to get Java blessed as an
international standard.”

“Java Software president Alan Baratz saidThursday Java
technology has been submitted to the ECMA as part of a plan to gain
International Standards Organization (ISO) approval down the
line.”

“Baratz said he expects to see a draft standard by October that
will be voted on at the general ECMA meeting in December.”
