Being powered by Linux kernel 3.11.1, Ubuntu 13.10 Beta features Upstart 1.10, CUPS 1.6.2, cups-filters 1.0.34, and Python 3.3. A Windows installer (Wubi) will still not be offered for this release of Ubuntu, which will be supported for only 9 months. As expected, Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) Beta is distributed as Live DVD ISO images, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. The final release of Ubuntu 13.10 will see the light of day on October 17, 2013, giving testers a fair amount of time to report bugs.
