“Technical services and support provider Linuxcare disclosed
this week that it received $32.5 million (US$) in backing from Dell
Computer Corp., Motorola, Oracle Corp, and Sun Microsystems.”
“This second round of funding was led by equity investment firm
Patricof & Co. Ventures and will be used, according to
Linuxcare, to expand IT capabilities and pump up its domestic and
international sales structure and marketing programs.”
“Linuxcare is the first company in the Linux space to
embrace the fact that the true value-add is customer service,”
commented Paul Vais, managing director of Patricof’s Palo Alto,
California office. “We’re pleased to work with Linuxcare to enable
expansion of their infrastructure to address the global opportunity
for enterprise Linux services.”
