Electronics Weekly: Lineo ships Embedix Linux 1.0

“Lineo has released the first version of its Linux operating
system called Embedix, which is targeted at embedded systems and
will compete with Microsoft’s Windows CE operating system in a wide
range of high volume consumer electronics devices.”

Embedded versions of Linux could prove key in consumer
electronics devices whose low price means that manufacturers of
such devices need a very low cost operating system and often cannot
justify Microsoft’s relatively high licensing costs for Windows
CE.
