“Recently off the heels of several impressive commercial beta
trials (Heroes of Might and Magic III, Heretic II), I decided to
take a laid back approach to December. Glancing through the open
source opportunities and my overflowing Inbox, I came across an
ambitious Bomberman remake, known simply as Bomb ô Bomb.”
“Based on the classic arcade game which has survived since the
80’s, Bomb ô Bomb has entered into what seems a crowded
marketplace – with console releases such as Atomic Bomberman
(Figure 1, Windows 95/98, Nintendo 64) and Bomberman Hero (Sony
Playstation), Bomb ô Bomb finds itself competing against well
established Linux open-source similarities – in particular
Clanbomber, which I personally feel will provide Bomb ô Bomb
with a serious hurdle to clear.”
“Bomberman is rather a simple concept – with several modes
that differ between releases, the common options that have survived
over the years are the ever popular battle tournaments against AI
players, and multiplayer deathmatches where up to 10 people can
blow each other up.“
