ExtremeTech: Opinion: KDE and Gnome Must Merge

“I am not an everyday Linux user. I would love to be, but I
believe that the Windows GUI and easy configuration is still much
better than any Linux distribution or desktop.

“I consider myself a pretty technical person. I can go through
and edit config files by hand, but I don’t want to. I left config
files with DOS and Super DOS (Windows 95). So what do I think is
part of the solution? One unified desktop project for Linux.

“I like KDE and Gnome, especially the latest versions. They have
come a long way in a seemingly short period of time. However, for
them to take it to the next level and surpass Windows they need to
work together. The common argument is ‘competition and choice are
the basis for open source…'”
