“Gnome2 (2.1.1-2) is still the default desktop environment for
Red Hat Linux. On the surface everything looks pretty much the
same–it still uses the Bluecurve desktop. All the cool stuff is
underneath:

  • “It runs on kernel 2.4.20-2.2.
  • “Cups is now the default printing engine, which means no more
    lpd unless you choose to install it.
  • “The Gnome menu now has an ‘open recent’ option (The KDE menu
    also has this but it’s turned off by default for some
    reason)…”
