“Into the breach stepped a small contingent of Linux
enthusiasts”

“IF you need an object lesson in what is abject about the IT
industry, PC IT last week was the place to be.”

“Noticeably absent from the show was Microsoft, as it girds for
a big splash when it launches Windows 2000 in the next few months.
It may be that the vacuum created by Microsoft’s absence this year
was in part responsible for most of the other big software and
hardware names going MIA.”

“Early delegates made bee-lines for the Linux Users Group of
Victoria (LUV) stand, and the area remained busy most of the day.
LUV, which has more than 700 members, has been rehearsing for its
coming out for several weeks. The high-traffic LUV listgroup has
been running hot with ideas for the show, ranging from the
practical (installation tips), to pure eye-candy (the latest Quake3
test).”

“And on the Thursday Linux morning, the nearby Connect.com
theatre was standing-room only as hundreds turned out to hear about
Linux, what it is, and what it can do for their business.”
