Linux users will have their own version of Quake III Arena
by the end of this month.

“The Linux masters at Loki Entertainment Software have announced
that it has signed an exclusive worldwide agreement with id
Software to publish, package, and distribute Quake III Arena for
Linux. The Linux version of the game is due on December 27 in the
US.”
