“Recently, Rick Collette was nice enough to sit down and talk to
Geeknews.org about SPIRO Linux, one of the latest Linux
distributions to come onto the scene. Rick is the head
developer for SPIRO Linux and offers us some insight as to the
roots of SPIRO Linux, their recent successes and of course their
Fox mascot.
As a bit of a side note, Geeknews.org is proud to
bring you the first ever interview with a member of the SPIRO Linux
team.”

“Geeknews.org: What are the goals of SPIRO Linux?”

“Rick Collette: We want to truly create a ‘people’s Linux’
distribution in much the way Mandrake (whom we REALLY respect
around the office here) is doing. We want to open our development
up to the world, and put what people really want into our different
distributions and add-ons.”

“Geeknews.org: Who is your target audience?”

“Rick Collette: Everyone. In fact, we’re working on several
different “paths” of SPIRO-Linux. We will start with SPIRO-Linux.
Which is the one that is up for download, and pretty much covers
all bases. In the next release, we’ll be pushing out close to a
dozen new products. I can’t really go into any depth in the avenue
we’re pursuing, but I assure you this: You’re grandmother may ask
you a few questions, but she’ll be able to install AND use it.”
