“Things are looking up, way up, for Corel and for Mr. Cowpland.
The Ottawa-based software maker has come through on its promise to
get out of the red in fiscal 1998. The company’s stock hit an
all-time high this week on enthusiasm for its Linux software — and
on speculation on the Internet that it might be a takeover
target.

“Mr. Cowpland is now even musing that Corel could use its
stock for significant acquisitions, a near impossibility a year
ago.”
