“As many of you know, there are two important sides to GNOME.
One side is the user desktop environment, and the other is a
development platform. When planning releases, we tend to want to
release the user environment very often, so users get the latest
and greatest stuff. At the same time, we want a stable and
relatively unchanging development platform. Basically, not all
GNOME releases will update the development platform.”
