Going from C to C: The Fine Ubuntu Line Between Commercial and Community

“Right in the middle of a busy day for Ubuntu, basking in the
success of the Dell-Canonical announcement that Dell will sell
computers with Ubuntu pre-installed, came another development for
the Ubuntu community: it seems some posts on the Ubuntu Planet
mysteriously disappeared. Once the dust had settled in, the end
result for everyone to see was: a few posts had been removed, the
Planet site went without an update for nearly 24 hours, and only
one recent post about the rumoured Dell deal was left standing
(mine…). Martin Albisetti has a bit more details and links about
the situation, including an update that seems to indicates that the
situation has now been cleared (not sure yet why whom, how, etc),
Fabian Rodriguez’s post is still MIA, and Jerome Gotangco gives the
situation a thumb down…”
