Installing Java in Ubuntu manually is pretty complicated but you can use a PPA that provides an installer that automatically downloads and sets up Oracle Java 8 (JDK8) for you and also, it provides automatic updates so you’ll always have the latest Java 8, with updates through the Update Manager. The PPA works with Ubuntu / Linux Mint and derivates and supports both 32bit and 64bit as well as ARM.
