“The Open Group has destroyed… the word UNIX.”
The Open Group today branded another product as UNIX
-compliant–Interix from Softway Systems. “‘Real’ UNIX on Windows
NT” (Interix’s quotes on “real”) is the tagline Softway is using to
introduce its UNIX certification.
Starquest Software will release its StarSQL for AIX, HP-UX, and
Solaris before the end of the year. It is also cogitating the
wisdom of releasing a version of this traditional NT middleware for
Linux.
At the Microprocessor Forum in San Jose this week, an HP
executive told me that “you can look for us to announce” support
for Linux.
