IBM developerWorks: Jikes 1.2 is available

Jikes 1.2 is out! Maya Stodte examines the features of the
first new Jikes release in the past half year. (Jikes is an open
source Java compiler.)

“Mo DeJong (the new project leader for Jikes), Martin York, and
their Jikes compatriots have put together the most recent Jikes
release (1.2), which debuted in August 2000. This new release
includes a couple of big improvements that are outlined here.
(Also, a minor but exciting improvement: According to the release
notes, an error is no longer generated when a package named in a
package statement can not be found on the CLASSPATH. You can also
find plenty of the smaller bug fixes detailed in the
ChangeLog.)”
