“IBM brings a high-performance JVM to Linux developers”
“A powerful Java development tool for Linux has topped the list
of most-requested enhancements on Sun Microsystems’ Java Developers
Connection Web site for some time now, and by a huge margin. The
absence of a JVM for Linux with performance comparable to that
available on Windows and commercial UNIX has left a void among
Linux developers. These longstanding requests finally have been
met–but not by Sun.”
“IBM’s Developer Kit for Linux is the first with both a
Just-in-time (JIT) compiler and support for native threads,” says
John Neffenger, creator of the VolanoMark performance benchmark.
“Its performance is some four times faster than [the open-source
JVM] Transvirtual Kaffee.”
