would soon emerge on the corporate desktop. I received a few more
when my New Year’s predictions said that this would be the year
when growing corporations would begin to earnestly examine the
possibilities of Linux desktop systems.

“Somehow, those catcalls are much easier to take as the year
goes by.

“You see, the number of commercial Linux desktop alternatives is
suddenly increasing. Red Hat is launching a Linux desktop focused
on many corporate functions. Sun Microsystems, which until recently
seemed to ebb and flow on its support for Linux, is now poised to
offer its own Linux-based business desktop alternative as
well…”
