InfoWorld: Site gives vendors way to spur, guide open-source projects

“A Web site will emerge this summer that links pending software
projects with global developers in the open-source milieu in a bid
to steer such efforts to where enterprise vendors think they are
needed most.”

“Hewlett-Packard and O’Reilly & Associates said Monday that
they have teamed up to create SourceXchange as a way to leverage
the expertise of open-source developers on behalf of project
sponsors.”

“The site, at www.sourcexchange.com,, will undergo a beta launch
in July. If successful, the site will accept projects from other
enterprise sponsors in the third quarter. As an affiliate of
O’Reilly & Associates, the site will begin its novel approach
to prioritizing development projects with an initial array of
open-source development projects from HP.”
