InfoWorld: Start-up Zenguin readies Linux application installer

“A start-up software developer is looking to make it easier to
install applications on Linux platforms, with an offering to be
demonstrated at the LinuxWorld conference in San Jose, Calif., in
August.

“Zenguin is developing software tentatively called Zenguin
Installer that would provide uniform installation procedures for
applications across different Linux distributions, according to
Eureka Endo, Zenguin director of marketing.

“The graphically driven product, which is set for general
release in January, is intended to enable nontechnical users to
install applications via a point-and-click interface…”

“Plans call for the product to first work with Red Hat, Caldera,
and SuSE Linux implementations, and to expand to other Linux
distributions afterward…”
