“Sun Microsystems on Wednesday released the Java 2 platform
source code on its Web site as part of the company’s new licensing
program to make the code more accessible. Under the auspices of the
Java technology Community Source Licensing program, the new
licensing model aims to bring about more rapid innovation and
faster incorporation of the Java 2 technology into products.

their changes to Sun; and lets developers modify and share source
code without involving Sun.”
