“Linus Torvalds, creator of the Linux operating system, spoke
with Mitchell Martin of the International Herald Tribune at Comdex
about the future of his invention.”

“Q. What kind of college student writes an operating
system?

“A. A computer-science student. I used to be this math nerd,
sort of way back when. I was the nerd of the class, in a positive
way. That is how I got in touch with Unix in the first place. Face
it, if you did not learn it in computer science, you would never
have seen Unix five years ago well, 10 years ago. How time
flies.”
