“When it comes to Linux support, IBM last week said it is
putting its money where its mouth is. The company launched a global
support program that is on par with that of its Unix and Windows NT
service offerings.”

“Among other things, IBM is offering those who purchase its
NetFinity servers preloaded with different versions of Linux free
service and support for 90 days. Direct telephone and e-mail help
center support will be offered around the clock in more than 164
countries for NetFinity servers loaded with Caldera and Red Hat
versions of Linux…”

“In addition to extended support, IBM is also expanding its
edu-cation curriculum for Linux users, including both classroom and
Web-based courses available through IBM Global Services. IBM also
said its Linux-based servers will link to AS/400 servers with the
release of Yellow Dog Linux Champion Server 1.1 from Terra Soft
Solutions Inc.”
