“The Linux 2.2.0-pre9 kernel, made available last week, is
actually the 2.2.0-final release, according to Linus Torvalds, the
lead developer of the open-source operating system. The new kernel
offers more stable support for Intel hardware platforms and
supports a wider variety of file systems.”
Be aware that this information is slightly dated. The
official 2.2.0, and even the 2.2.1, releases have already happened.
