vast numbers to consumers. One is games consoles and the other is
wireless devices. These look set to be the dominant forms of

become the top selling unit that delivers digital capabilities into
the domestic environment. It could be the gateway between the
consumer and the wired world. Sony has already taken the lead in
the games console market, with the original PlayStation selling
over 60 million units. The new product is being launched in Japan
with plans to sell a million units in the first week…”

One way or another, the consumer space is likely to be
linked with the Internet. It’s looking as if the Sony PlayStation
and Linux based wireless devices could be the two principal
technologies that dominate that space.
