– In what ways do you make a contribution to
KDE?

“I’m a sort of PR guy for the Dutch KDE group who is visiting
events together with those strange KDE devs 🙂 I also help to
(re)write some howtos for www.kde.nl and lately I also write some
articles/interviews for the newssite dot.kde.org.

– When did you first hear of KDE?

“In 2000 I was starting to get interested in Linux when I
visited the HCC-dagen in the Netherlands. There I could find the
Dutch lug NLLGG selling Linux CD’s. I just heard of Linux at that
time and bought myself a CD of RedHat. This had a default GUI
called GNOME. After some fiddling I could browse the internet but
GNOME wasn’t sexy (enough) for me. Then I bought this magazine
called LinuxFormat because they shipped it with SUSE 7.0. That
distro offered a KDE-desktop and I was completely sold. Also at the
same time KDE 2.0 arrive and I was really in love with KDE…”
