“This year, law enforcement officials have been intensifying
crackdowns on illegal software programs, partly as a result of
complaints by multinational software makers such as Microsoft. The
government has been carrying out projects to replace illegally
copied software programs with legal editions at central and
provincial administration offices.” “The stepped-up anti-piracy
campaign may have helped improve business for local software
companies; statistics showed that the sales of these companies have
increased ninefold since the campaign intensified itself.” “Several
months ago the announcement of this crackdown prompted protest
rallies by the local “Mom and Pop” software resellers.”
